Welcome to Church

WHO WE ARE

Sanctuary Church is a family following the way of Jesus in Providence, Rhode Island. We seek to walk by faith, be known by love, and be a voice of hope for our region. Like all followers of Jesus, we are called to demonstrate and announce the good news that God is renewing all things in and through Christ. We don’t do this perfectly. But we believe in a God who loves us exactly where we are and loves us too much to leave us there.

WHAT WE BELIEVE ABOUT CHURCH

Whether you’re a follower of Jesus, someone who is searching, or someone who is fed up with religion, you are welcome here. We believe church should be an open, challenging, and safe place to serve, be still, ask questions, wrestle with the Bible, and be honest. A church is a community learning what it means to follow Jesus. At its best, the church is a compelling force for good in the world, serving, sacrificing, and loving what God loves. It should be marked by grace, trusting a God who loves us exactly where we are and loves us far too much to let us stay there. And it should be centered on the good news, the gospel of Jesus.

We’d Love to connect

CONNECT WITH US

Sundays

We understand that coming to a new place can be intimidating. Please know that our community is full of people who are all over the map. All are truly welcome.

  • Our team will be there to greet you (or you can just sneak right by them and find a seat).
There is usually free coffee in the upstairs lobby.

Our gathering will begin a few minutes after 10am and runs between 75-90min. Be sure to visit the Next Steps Bar after the service for more

  • If you are a new visitor or have physical limitations, we invite you to park in the small lot adjacent to the church! All others can park for free in the covered parking garage across the street; be sure to grab a Sanctuary parking pass from the Next Steps Bar.

  • Follow the signs for KidCity Check-In as soon as you walk in the door. We have programming for nursery through 5th grade. Our kids (minus nursery) participate in our opening worship time and are then invited to head down to their classrooms during the sermon and response time.

You can check in your kids as early as 9:45am.

What We Believe

+ the centrality of the word of God, trusting the Bible as the authoritative and life-shaping rule for faith, doctrine, and conduct.

+ the necessity of the new birth, believing that personal faith in Jesus Christ is essential for salvation and a life transformed by grace.

+ the commitment to the whole mission of the church, both demonstrating and announcing the gospel of Jesus.

+ the church as a fellowship of believers, where all are welcomed, nurtured, and held together in Christ’s love.

+ a conscious dependence on the Holy Spirit, recognizing the Spirit’s work in guiding, empowering, and uniting the church.

+ the reality of freedom in Christ, believing that Christ frees us to be united in what matters most and gracious in what matters less.
